Great option at the price point.

For the money (I got it at 199 on sale 150 off) its a fantastic little coop! easily good for 2-4 large breed hens. has 3 nesting boxes, and a good roost. the hinges and door latches are about what you would expect in this price point. could use upgrading later on, but, for now they are sufficient. the roof shingles seem well made, and should do the job as intended. The build instructions were, just pictures. Rudimentary at best, but... sufficient. I assembled the coop in about 45 minutes with a power drill/screwdriver.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Extremely Poor Customer Service

I received the XL Superior Chicken Coop for Christmas. A week ago I finally had the opportunity to unpack and assemble the coop. Halfway through the unpacking I found one of the panels damaged. The vertical support on one side of the panel was shattered. I immediately went to the website listed on the enclosed information sheets. The only way to contact the company was through "email" for in the customer support tab. It is implied that you would be contacted shortly by a customer service representative. It's now been a week since my first request for help, I have since submitted a follow-up request for assistance and still have NOT received any response. My recommendation would be to NOT purchase this brand of "backyard farm " products, particularly their "coops". Customer Service is the #1 most important concern for any business in today's consumer environment. Apparently My Backyard Farm only cares about $$ and not the customer.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Low end material/upkeep most important

It’s an alright coop if you catch the $100 off sale. The coop really is what you make it. The instructions specifically say that you need to paint or seal it if it’s for outdoor use and I’m gonna assume most people don’t follow that. I painted mine and it will last a few more years probably. You really need to have this coop sitting on blocks or pavers or something to have it solid and not flex a little on/in the ground. The ramp is hot garbage…. Had to make a new one a week after moving my ladies full time. I’ll be keeping this inside my run for as long as they will use it and it’s physically safe for them to do so. All in all it’s not terrible, not worth $350. If the price point were $299 all the time with a nice $200 or $225 sale a couple times a year more people would have backyard birds. So either find a better supplier for this level of product or drop that price baby!

Poor Quality

The material used is very cheap but sold for a hefty price. My chickens have been in their coop for 2 weeks, and the would is already cracking. The doors don't line up like they should so you have to lift the door before latching them. Some how the chickens can escape the nesting box and make their way into the run with the main door closed. The roof is already bubbling and coming away from the wood. It's an okay starter coop but nothing worth keeping long term.

Has issues

The ramp was torn apart by my chicken I had to build a new one which caused me to have to get inside the coop. The access door is not made of plywood and is coming apart just from regular use the dividers are warping and coming loose from the slots. I had made a pull up door to keep them protected at first and help keep, them warm in the winter but now I don’t close, with the door created some other issues with the the chickens coming out the top opening so I used chicken wire to prevent them from getting out of the coop…I may close the door come winter again.

Great coop for the price

I've used this coop for the last two and a half years and it has held up well. Only improvement I would make is the ramp mounting could be a bit stronger.
